We believe it is important to help all those in need, all around the world. We have a variety of ways we support foreign missionaries and mission. We support missionaries, but we also help by sending financial and other resources to those in need.
Just before His ascension into heaven, Jesus challenged His disciples of His and all generations, “And you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
While disciple making begins in our own personal spheres of influence, it certainly doesn’t end there. We must think and act globally in that regard by taking the message of Jesus and His kingdom to the ends of the earth, just as He commanded us.
Bethel Friends achieves that through the missionary arm of the Evangelical Friends Church – Eastern Region (EFC-ER) of which it is a part. Comprised of 80 churches, the EFC-ER supports missionaries in various countries of the world by those churches funding its Great Commission Budget.
An example of Friends missions overseas:
Rwanda (Africa)
After considerable praying and planning, Friends worship services began in 1987.
By the end of 1993, Friends had established 25 Friends Churches and by 2001, 68 worship points, 3 Friends secondary Schools, and four primary schools. Despite experiencing much unrest and instability in recent years, Rwanda’s people display a keen interest in and openness to the Gospel.
